About Woodland Pals
At Woodland Pals, we offer a developmentally appropriate curriculum for early learners that is immersed with nature exploration and discovery. Our lessons build on a curriculum framework that engages students with sensory-rich, hands-on activities and encourages child-directed inquiry.
Our students have access to daily lessons that are pre-recorded for families to watch at their own convenience (4 days a week) and live zoom classes (2 days a week) for additional academic learning, social interaction, fine-motor/gross-motor development, and nature exploration.
That is 6 days of accessible, quality education for your early learner!
Students will learn the academic skills needed for a successful transition to kindergarten, such as letter recognition, letter-sound correspondence, sight-word development, prewriting skills, number recognition, counting and sorting skills, size differentiation, and color/shape identification.
During circle-time, students will learn the months-of-the-year, days-of-the-week, the four seasons, the weather, discuss weather appropriate clothing, and sing our favorite songs!
We will read a variety of books, including stories by well-known authors and illustrators, as well as stories that build on our love of the outdoors. Through engaging puppets and stuffies, story time will become a favorite part of your child's learning!
Each week, Miss Abby will bring your child on a 30 minute virtual field trip. Students will explore forests, lakes, bogs, and rivers. They will investigate beautiful areas of the White Mountain National Forest, as well as state parks throughout New Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts. Miss Abby and her students will discover and identify flora, fauna, insects, and wildlife in their natural habitats, while developing a love and understanding of the natural environment. Miss Abby's Students will explore the wonders of nature through play and discovery, while learning about our impact on our environment with fun facts and interactive activities along the way!
Meet Our Woodland Family!
Miss Rhona, Miss Abby & Miss Megan
We are Miss Rhona, Miss Abby, & Miss Megan and we are the owners of Woodland Pals! In addition to all the fantastic teachers in Preschool Club, we will be your child's personal preschool teachers.
Miss Rhona (Curriculum Coordinator & Lead Preschool Teacher): I have been working in the Early Childhood Education field for over 15 years. I have my Masters of Education in Early Childhood Education and Early Childhood Special Education, as well as degrees in English and Human Services.
Miss Abby (Nature Curriculum Coordinator, Virtual Field Trip Instructor & Lead Preschool Teacher): I have my Bachelors of Science in Adventure Education, certified as a Master Educator of Leave No Trace, certified in wilderness first responder, and have taught preschoolers, adolescents, the elderly, and college students the wonders of outdoor activities, nature appreciation, and natural history.
Miss Megan (IT Coordinator, Videographer, Editor & Customer Support Specialist): I worked in retail management for 11 years and am now a stay-at-home mom. I have 3 wonderful children and enjoy spending time with my family. My hobbies are reading, cooking, coloring, and knitting, I love the outdoors and camping with my family as well!
We are passionate about teaching! We bring the love of the outdoors to our online classroom, providing a hands-on curriculum with engaging learning experiences!
